Don't Step Foot in There

The Murder House

From the world's #1 bestselling writer...

A prime oceanfront view on a private beach in the Hamptons was discovered centuries ago. It’s an absolutely a stunning home, well a multi-million dollar mansion actually! No one lives there anymore, and hasn't for years because it is believed to be curse, and with very good reason. A series of murders spanning generations has occurred there, but this all ended decades ago. Or so everyone thought. A gruesome double-homicide occurs within these walls and Hampton PD is on the move immediately and arrests their prime suspect.

Detective Jenna Murphy has left the NYPD and is now working under Chief Langdon James, her uncle. She loves the thrill of her job and has always been an elite detective. So, why did she leave Manhattan, where she saw way more action? The Hamptons is a slow town with  a small community of the rich, and only during the summer when celebrities come to town does it get busy. This case in the Murder House has rocked everyone, and is right up Jenna's alley as she is confident she is the only one in this little town who is skilled enough to handle it. However, she isn't a native New Yorker, Jenna is from the Hamptons and a vague memory from her past haunts her literally day and night. All she knows is something happened to her, and it has something to do with the Murder House.

The book jumps in with a flashback from 1995, foreshadowing a devious child who caused mass panic in his school at just 12 years old. After that we jump forward to present day and as mentioned the police jump on their prime suspect, Noah Walker, and find all the evidence they need practically tied up in a bow. The case is coming together flawlessly against Noah, but he swears he did not commit these murders, but he knows the victims and had the motive. It doesn't help that there are some sketchy secrets in his past. Jenna Murphy feels like she should believe him, yet doesn't really know why. She launches her own investigation into him, the city, and that house. The closer she looks, bodies start turning up and it has much more going on than just this double-homicide. Something has been happening under their noses for years!
